Hollywood’s Bleeding

Hollywood’s Bleeding – Post Malone – 7.5

Post Malone returns with a new album following on from his 2018 project Beerbongs & Bentleys. Now listening to that album in full showed that Post still didn’t have the artistic flair to pull off a full-length album and keep it interesting. However, with Hollywood’s Bleeding, he has taken a big step in the right direction in that regard and delivered his best piece of work yet. My biggest complaint with B&B’s was that it was too bloated and too inconsistent with its highlights. Now with this album just being 51 minutes long, listening to each song as they pleasantly float by is the best experience I’ve had listening to Post this much. To be fair, there are some duds in the tracklist that could maybe have been cut, songs like Saint-Tropez and Allergic don’t really do anything for me, especially some silly lyrics on Saint-Tropez. And with the last 3 tracks being quite short, they feel a bit unnecessary like they are bonus tracks added on at the end. I think this album has the best features on any Post album so far too. My feature highlights are DaBaby, SZA, Lil Baby, Future, Halsey and Young Thug. I was surprised to see the track Sunflower on this album from the recent Spider-Man movie, but it’s a nice song so I’m not too fussed. Overall, Post Malone has trimmed the fat that made his previous albums a slog to listen to and has delivered a fun and fresh project that can be considered his best so far.
