Man On The Moon: The End Of Day – Kid Cudi – 8

This is a real throwback album. Listening back to this album just shows the influence that Kid Cudi and this album had on artists like Travis Scott, not just in sound but the album narration from Common is very similar to TI’s narration of Rodeo. The psychedelic production and upbeat melodic would have made 12 year old me absolutely love this album. Even tho I wouldn’t say I went through a loner stoner, troubled emo phase at 12 years old, but the appeal of this album is abundantly clear. Listening to this album and then listening to Kids See Ghosts just highlights how Cudi has kept to his sound after all these years but has managed to tweak and refine that sound along with Kanye whilst influencing some of the hottest artists around today. There aren’t any unenjoyable tracks on this album but there are certain songs that have moments that get slightly repetitive or mundane but those moments don’t last long enough to hinder the listening experience of this album. Overall this is a nice listen with some really classic tracks and some very interesting production. P.S. Day ‘n’ Nite was such a huge track back when I started high school, so it is one of my ultimate throwback tracks.
