Oxnard – Anderson .Paak – 7.9

Anderson .Paak’s new album Oxnard is a smooth and fun album that takes you straight to the West Coast for an enjoyable 90’s throwback vibe. It’s obvious that Paak is so ridiculously talented musically that he can cover a range of styles and genres such as jazz, rap and neo-soul and just make it work effortlessly. After my first listen to Oxnard I enjoyed it but I think this will be one of those albums that will just get better with every new listen. The production on this album is really is the highlight for me throughout with some really funky and feel good beats that can get really infectious, and some superb guest verses from Kendrick and Pusha T really impressed me as well. It’s always nice to hear Snoop and Dre, and it was a pleasure to hear them on here too, especially since they fit in so well with the vibe of this album. There are some tracks on here that stand out for me more than others but there really are no bad tracks on here at all. This was the first Anderson .Paak project I have listened to in full, but I have been asked to review his previous album Malibu, which will be posted in the future.
